Yes Yeah, why? Because it’s not your culture cultural appropriation. Why do you say that Mexican food is like cultural appropriation no Someone else’s culture that we’ve kind of taken Is this cultural appropriation No comment You don’t really understand what their culture means and what it means to wear these things like the hats and the maracas You sort of have to understand where all of this comes from for it to not be cultural appropriation It’s not yours Can I just ask you do you like my costume I like you your message Lovely, this is my outfit offends you no. No you look nice. Thank you. Do you like my costume? Yes, does it offend you? No, no not that’s good me Guapo Cava are you guys insulting me? Salting me in Spanish. Do you like them? As an anchor baby myself, I love your costume

  2. Leon O Posted on November 12, 2019 at 9:49 pm

Let me tell the girl with glasses what we wear a sombrero for, to give us shadow, hence the name, we use maracas for music and we wear a zarape to keep us warm, no cultural stuff in those. ¡Viva México!

  3. Mes Quivel Posted on November 12, 2019 at 10:36 pm

    Your outfit is dumb

  4. Kravchevsky Posted on November 13, 2019 at 3:14 pm

Guy: you find my outfit offensive?
    Girl: Yeah
    Guy: Why?
    Girl: … culture appropriation?

  5. Bananalovingbitch Posted on November 13, 2019 at 5:24 pm

Americans are wearing Dirndls and Lederhosen at Oktoberfest. Stop that’s offensive

  6. Liz Smith Posted on November 13, 2019 at 7:34 pm

I’m Mexican and I am not offended at all 😅😅😅

  7. The Flying Ace Posted on November 13, 2019 at 9:20 pm

Dress up as a stereotypical irish person and see how many people will get upset and call it cultural appropriation.
    I say no one

  8. Julian Garcia Posted on November 13, 2019 at 10:48 pm

As a Mexican this is hilarious

  9. Tempura & Noodles Posted on November 13, 2019 at 11:57 pm

Well, we don’t get offended by their tacos so am sure this ain’t either.

People don’t dress like other ethnicities because they don’t embrace theirs, but because they’re celebrating it too.

  10. deathangel273 Posted on November 14, 2019 at 12:38 am

Bruh I'm Mexican and that outfit is not offensive it's even funny man 😀

  11. Lorena La Reyna Posted on November 14, 2019 at 1:26 am

Ok but like it’s not offensive bc it’s not actually our culture lmao. Also like it may not be offensive but all you Mexicans in the comments are clowns for calling it appreciation. This fool would deport you with half the chance

  12. israel castelan Posted on November 14, 2019 at 1:31 am

just because it’s not offensive doesn’t mean it’s not harmful. you’re holding an image of what you think mexicans are. And the whole mexicans sell it so it’s alright is bs bro. The whole purpose isn’t to spread “culture” it’s to make money. it doesn’t make it right.

  13. Aylin Hernandez Posted on November 14, 2019 at 4:15 am

I’m Mexican and I have no problem with someone wearing that kind of outfit (when they aren’t Mexican). It’s offensive when someone who isn’t Mexican-while wearing that outfit-and saying offensive/insulting shit. But other than that, go ahead:)

  14. Jesus Urbina Posted on November 14, 2019 at 6:22 am

Go ahead guero. Rock that sombrero y pancho. I don't see nothing wrong here. Unbelievable white kids and apparently black kids too actually get offended by this. Privileged Mexican American kids probably would too.

  15. ariel r Posted on November 14, 2019 at 6:34 am

I mean I don’t think it’s offensive as a Mexican because I personally don’t think you’re doing anything offensive with you in it. So thank you so much for that. But on the other hand gun girl wearing that “native “ costume is offensive because of the things she was saying and what she was questioning people was just stupid

  16. CHER 100 Posted on November 14, 2019 at 6:57 pm

what if a dressed up as a ghost or a vampire and wore a justin beiber wig and said “white people do you find this offensive?” they would 🤣

  17. Emily Luna Posted on November 15, 2019 at 3:54 am

i think this video is misguided. cultural appropriation does have to do with people’s lack of understanding about the significance of cultural items and outsiders co-opting these items, but there’s more to it than that; even having bought these items from mexicans and showing mexicans’ good-natured reactions, celebrating a group’s culture means nothing if you dont also care about the people behind it. people can love mexican culture at the same time that they harbor unfair prejudices about mexican people. so maybe you’re not offending an older generation of mexicans, but what does your “celebration of mexican culture” actually do for the mexicans in a country that values mexican people only for their cultural exports and not their inherent value as human beings?

  18. classified 87 Posted on November 15, 2019 at 9:25 am

Most Non Mexican citizens get offended because they assume they’re isn’t any white Mexicans, due to the lack
    Of Knowledge that Mexico
Is a land of immigrants as well. Also most Americans don’t know that Mexicans are hybrids between Spanish and the native tribes of Mexico.

  19. ciera wilcox Posted on November 15, 2019 at 6:56 pm

0:50 "because it's not your culture?" She said it as a question she doesn't even know why she's "supposed to be" offended 😂

  20. lilLaReggie Posted on November 15, 2019 at 8:21 pm

It's still cultural appropriation by defeniton but Mexicans just don't care about PC culture

  21. D Maekawa Posted on November 16, 2019 at 4:23 am

There’s a Mexican phrase that’s something like “un mexicano nace dónde se le da su chingada gana” that basically means that anyone can be Mexican and that’s part of our culture

  22. max s Posted on November 16, 2019 at 5:55 am

    Cultural appropriation is so stupid.

  25. Karen P Posted on November 16, 2019 at 6:00 pm

I’m Mexican and I only feel offended when people wear traditional clothing as a joke and make fun of the culture. As long as you don’t go around making a fool of yourself because you think that’s how mexican people act it’s fine. I think the mustache was a little too much tho.

  26. Christian Soza Posted on November 16, 2019 at 6:16 pm

  27. Jacob B Posted on November 16, 2019 at 7:03 pm

  28. pedro6720 Posted on November 16, 2019 at 9:15 pm

So proud that this appeared in my recommendations.

I think there’s a deeper meaning for “cultural appropriation” to those who said that it was offensive that I’m not getting.

    Hope someone can explain me.

  29. pedro6720 Posted on November 16, 2019 at 9:17 pm

Amazing video that showcase how stupid people are for getting offended for anything.

My first thought before anything was said was “pinche sombrero chingon” lol still don’t get how all those people are offended though they’re not even Mexican. I’m all like bienvenido paisano 👍

  35. egrajeda88 Posted on November 17, 2019 at 9:23 pm

Couldn't this video be edited to only show Latinos that say they were not offended? The argument, which this video is trying to make can not be proved by an edited video.

  41. Snatxi Posted on November 18, 2019 at 6:33 pm

I am from Panama and i would love to see anybody from some other country try on a pollera or a montuno (traditional panamanian clothing). It will be more of like a compliment than anything else. Only reason people get offended is to get offended because they think you would be offended.

  42. Get Out Ariana Posted on November 18, 2019 at 11:12 pm

    White people: this is offended
Mexicans: your mustache is not original

  46. Mary Wimmer Posted on November 20, 2019 at 8:28 pm

SO TRUE. Only white people have the time to be offended. I am Vietnamese – for Halloween this year, I dressed up as Pocahontas. I guess I was culturally appropriating. I got no negative comments, but if I was white, there would be hell to pay.

  47. Robinson Bc Posted on November 20, 2019 at 9:22 pm

well i’m mexican and i found it offensive and tasteless

  50. Joselin Almazan Posted on November 22, 2019 at 5:10 am

if he's wearing it to mock the culture it is offensive. If you're known to like mexican things, you embrace the culture then Its not, but undertand that a lot of white folks have dressed this way in without knowing or liking anything about mexico they do it to make fun of the culture. Undertand why it's offensive to them. Just be respectful that's all. Just because you find a handful of Mexican in placita olvera who don't mind doesn't mean that represents every Mexican. Same with white people who were offended.

  51. vanilla cream Posted on November 23, 2019 at 4:02 am

Man. This culture appropriating things is like some arrogant people sure don't want to let people embrace other culture

  52. Aniger Rodz Posted on November 23, 2019 at 8:09 pm

Wey nmms mas de la mitad de los mexicanos tampoco saben que pedo con eso; no hablen por la raza no hay nesecidad

  53. Juliana Cintra Posted on November 23, 2019 at 8:16 pm

    In general (not only Mexico):
    * Understand it's an exaggerated version and that there's a lot more of specific place/group.
    * Avoid really delicate topics (like religion), except if they already made it clear that they don't mind.
    * Avoid superiority complex, don't go around calling them "savages/stupid/useless/…" There's a difference between "having fun" and "insulting".

In this video he was just using an exaggerated version of a traditional look while being really chill and friendly.
Wearing an exaggerated costume isn't automatically an insult, you know?

  54. Juliana Cintra Posted on November 23, 2019 at 8:34 pm

Descendents might get offended easier than actual immigrants because they grew up in different contexts.

    * Immigrant: born and raised in A , moved to B .
They're seen as foreigners, but that's only expected. As long as they're treated with respect they don't mind that much being seen as a different group.
    * Descendents: born and raised in B . They don't fully belong to country A or B and might be seen as an outsider by both. While growing up they most likely met at least one kid that would mock A , they would be seen as the "(insert race/country) kid". They might always be seen as "a foreigner"/"exotic"/"outsider" by the people of the country they actually were born in.

Immigrants can ignore it easier. They didn't have to worry about it while growing up, created their identity easier and decided to live in a different country.
Descendents were born in that situation. They KNOW of all the things people say about their family's country ever since they were KIDS , they constantly heard a lot of B.S. and might never feel fully accepted by their actual country.

With all that being said: the costume on this video is obviously not offensive (I made other comment on that), I'm just explaining ONE of the reasons why descendents might get offended easier that actual foreigners/immigrants.

  55. Andrea Sker Posted on November 24, 2019 at 6:26 am

That’s the thing with being Mexican. You don’t really take things to heart and nothing can offend you. I love being Mexican 🇲🇽😘💖

  56. G_ E Posted on November 26, 2019 at 3:08 pm

I don’t think the people he interviewed really got offended, I think that they simply know that there is so much racism/hate etc. that what they really meant to say was that… they didn’t find it right for him dress that way because it seemed as if he was making fun of the Mexican stereotypes and walking around poking at someone’s culture or traditions for fun is not okay. So instead of criticizing them why not appreciate the fact that they actually said something to defend us in a way, instead of them “laughing about it” or saying “I don’t care”.

  57. Fatima Stormsaguilar Posted on November 27, 2019 at 1:24 pm

Would something like that make it to the US without being labelled as cULtuRaL apProPiAtiOn?

  67. Javier Castanon Posted on December 6, 2019 at 4:59 am

it's okay. I am Mexican born and raised in Mexico and a resident of the United States, I cannot generalize and say that for everyone it is fine, but if I can say that I and a large majority of Mexicans, we love to share our culture, our food, and our home, and our native clothes. most of us are pleased to see other people regardless of their origin or race use our typical clothes and eat our food and drinks, because that means they also enjoy our culture, and if any foreigner identifies and wants to feel part of our people and our culture makes us feel glad because it means that you appreciate our lifestyle.

  93. Patricia Fernández Posted on January 1, 2020 at 5:48 am

As mexican, the only thing that "offended" me is that you are wearing the hat with the front back no seas tarugo.
In addition, that hat is made for gringo tourists in Tijuana, no Mexican ever wore a hat like that throughout history lol.
The poncho is beautiful I found it in very good taste but with another outfit, I love the Aztec calendar
Oh, I forgot, the maracas don't offend me but (As far as I remember) only tropical groups use them.

    What does the hat do:
Keep the sun out of their eyes and neck
    What does the poncho do:
Keep the sun off their skin
What did every other cowboy wear:

  98. Pedro Lopera Posted on January 11, 2020 at 2:11 am

just imagine a white mexican wearing that, he would get tons of insults.
