our priorities right now. Because even though David, went through some very real threats, he went through a lot of things. His main priority, was one thing I ask, to be in
the house of the Lord forever, and just to seek His face. So when the day of trouble came, he knew he was going to be safe, and he knew that he was

We’re not gonna react with panic or fear, ’cause that’s not of God, but God wants us to be safe, He wants us to be healthy, and we’re trying to follow the guidelines of our
leadership, and our government, so that we can get through this, and get through this together. I hope everyone’s enjoyed
the nightly broadcasts, as we’ve been broadcasting
live every night, that’s gonna continue next week as well. Just to time in the midst
of all that’s happening, we wanna gather together as a church, let’s worship God together, let’s believe God together, and let’s see the miracle
that’s on the horizon, that God is getting ready to do, and I believe in the midst of doing. This morning, I wanna talk to
you about what real faith is, the title of the message is, “Let Real Faith Rise Up.” with the uncertainty going around, people are looking for
those of faith to go to. Looking for those of faith, to believe in, and to pray with them,
and to stand with them. This could be our greatest
moment in history, in the midst of the crisis
that’s happening around us, for the church to truly unite, that the body of Christ unites
for such a time as this. God wants to use us, God wants to use you. I say it so often, but this church is not the building, this church is not 1850
McMullen Booth Road, the church is you. Day in and day out, you have the opportunity to be the church, to your family, to your loved ones, to your co workers, to your neighbors. This is our time to rise up, stand together, stand in real faith, in what God wants to do
in us, and through us. The biblical definition of faith is found in Hebrews chapter 11, verse one, it says, “Now faith is being
sure of what we hope for “and certain of what we do not see.” Let me read that again. “Faith is being sure of what we hope for, “and certain of what we do not see.” There’s so much that goes around, where people are so
wishy-washy in their faith. Some people, I would call
it a counterfeit faith, when it’s comfortable, when it’s easy. But when things are hard, this is a time where real
faith goes into action. This morning, we’re gonna be
looking at Mark chapter nine. And what we see here in the context, is a father with his demon possessed son, in a time of such desperation in his life. He doesn’t know what to do, but he’s crying out for help, and he’s leaning on others faith, but he’s needing help right
now in desperation seeking God. Right here we see, there’s an argument that’s going on with the Pharisees, the Sadducees, the scribes, they’re called the teachers of the law in this section of Scripture. So the teachers of the law are arguing with the disciples, about how are they
gonna help this man out? How is Jesus gonna help this man out? And this is where we pick it up in Mark, chapter nine, starting in verse 16. Says, “‘What are you arguing
with them about?’ Jesus asked. “And the man in the crowd answered, “‘Teacher, I brought you my son, “‘who is possessed by a spirit, “‘that has robbed him of his speech. “‘Whenever it seizes him, “‘it goes through him to the ground. “‘He foams at the mouth,
gnashes his teeth, “‘and becomes rigid. “‘I asked your disciples
to drive the spirit out, “‘but they could not.'” Now I want you to put yourself in the position of this father. Here is a son since he was young, since he was a young child, has constantly been having these seizures, and these attacks by an evil spirit, that causes him to manifest
in so many different ways, and he’s crying out for help. Put yourself in a position
with your children, or if you don’t have children, maybe your spouse or your
parents or your loved ones. For me, I was thinking
as I was reading this, and putting this together, I thought of my oldest daughter, Amy, when she was just maybe two years old, she was very, very active,
very strong willed, liked to do whatever she wanted to do. But she was a climber, she was climbing over
anything, everything, we had to watch her constantly. And I can remember getting
called by a babysitter, we had just left her for a
couple hours with the babysitter. And the babysitter said,
“You gotta come right now, “there’s been an accident.” And so she was out of the babysitter sight for just a couple of minutes, and she had climbed onto a bookshelf, and pulled one of the
heavy-duty, electric, typewriters off of the bookshelf and on
her face, smashed her nose. And let me tell you as a
father, it was so heartbreaking, to see your child just screaming in agony, holding on the the X-ray machine, she’s sobbing as they’re taking X-rays. And I’m just praying for her, “God, I wish this could be me, “God touch her, God take away the pain.” Blood pouring out of her nose. And I realized, that’s the same position this man was in the Bible. He was so desperate for deliverance, and healing of his son, and healing of his son
spiritually as well as physically. Let’s pick up the story here in verse 19, it says, “‘Oh, unbelieving
generation,’ Jesus replied, “‘how long shall I stay with you? “‘How long shall I put up with you? “‘Bring the boy to me.’ “And they brought it to Him. “And the Spirit saw Jesus, “it immediately threw
the boy into convulsions. “He fell to the ground,
and he rolled over, “around, foaming at the mouth. “Jesus asked the boy’s father, “‘How long has he been like this?’ “‘From childhood’ he answered, “‘It has often thrown, “‘it has often thrown him into a fire “‘or water to try to kill him.'” Imagine, that you have a child, that is possessed by a spirit, that the Spirit has thrown him into fire is trying to kill him. So often we feel like it’s too much, the pressure is too much,
it’s too overwhelming. God what’s happening? Are you trying to kill me? No, God is not. God is always there as our protector. He’s always there to comfort us. He’s always there to be with us. He’s always there to lift us up. But it’s time for us to stand in faith, strong in who God is. This is the response of
the father in verse 22, “‘But if you can do anything, “‘take pity on us and help us.'” You hear the key word there, the father says, “If you can.” You see that’s, that’s
a counterfeit faith, that’s a wishy-washy faith, if? So often we think, God, if you could do this, there’s so much uncertainty
in America right now, in the world. God, where are you? In the midst of all that’s happening? Am I gonna have my job tomorrow? How can I take care of my kids? How am I gonna provide food? It’s not a matter of if God can do it, it is when God will do it. God knows what’s happening, none of this caught God by surprise. But in our own situation, this is the time not to have fear, because right now the media
is fueling our fear every day, that all the news constantly
fueling fear and panic. This is a time for the church to immerse themselves in who God is, and let real faith arise in our hearts, instead of fueling fear, fear, let’s encourage one another in the Lord. Let’s fuel the faith that God’s given us, to make our faith even stronger. Verse 23, “‘If you can,’ said Jesus,” “‘If you can,’ said Jesus?” “‘Everything is possible
for him who believes.'” Everything is possible, maybe you’re in your home,
and you’re sick right now, and you have (mumbles) and you’re afraid, What am I gonna do? God can heal you, let
faith arise in your hearts. For some of you, you’ve been
praying for a prodigal child, a son or a daughter, that’s
in complete rebellion, it’s not if God can bring them back, it’s God, I stand in faith believing You, that You’re not only
gonna bring them back, but they’re gonna be stronger
than they’ve ever been. They’re gonna be saved,
they’re gonna know God, they’re gonna be filled
with the Holy Ghost, and they’re gonna believe God, do whatever you can to
bring that prodigal back. Healing of our world,
healing of our emotions, nothing, I want everyone
to say this at home, nothing is impossible for God. Verse 24, “Immediately the
boy’s father exclaimed, “‘I do believe, but help
me with my unbelief.'” He exclaimed that, he said, “He exclaimed, ‘I do believe, “‘but help me with my unbelief.'” Exclaimed in the Greek is, krazo, it means to croak as a raven or to scream, to call aloud, to shriek. He was so desperate, “‘God, help me with my unbelief.'” Help me, oftentimes we feel the same way, “God I’m feeling down, I’m feeling discouraged.” Now’s not the time to walk away, now’s the time to run towards God, and scream in all of your might, “Help me God” with the areas of doubt, that I’m struggling with. You see, there are
obstacles to real faith, the enemy is gonna try
to rob us of our faith. The enemy is gonna do anything he can, to put obstacles in front of us so that we fall when there’s nothing left, for many people all they
have is their faith. Our hope is based on our faith. So I’m gonna go through
just a couple of things, that are obstacles to real faith. Number one, the number one obstacle is sign, demanding faith. Constantly saying, “God,
if you’re really out there, “I need to see a sign. “God if you’re really out there, “I need this to come on the radio “or I need this to happen.” And we can get so caught up in our faith, being so wishy-washy, it’s all about what we’re
gonna see with a sign. I can remember 10 years ago, when pastor Lloyd asked me
to be the next senior pastor here at Countryside. And my answer to him first was no, and then I said, after a few days, “If God gives me a sign, then I’ll do it.” He goes, “Glenn I’m praying for you, “He’s already spoken to me.” And so I said, “Well, let me just pray, “if God shows me a sign, then I’ll do it.” The next week, God, showed me a sign, and I said, “God, if you
really want me to do it, “I need another sign.” And actually, this is no joke, I asked God for five signs before I ever accepted the position. And I look back and I think, “Glenn, really, really, “you’re gonna need five
signs to just be obedient? “What weak faith that you had.” I look back, and I think, “If I had just known the heart of God, “I didn’t need a sign.” God speaks to me, God’s in me, the Holy Spirit is leading me, the Holy Spirit is my GPS, that’s leading me from left to right with decisions that I’m making. Every day I’m leaning on God, and for my understanding, for my faith to be stirred, and
trusting God in the process. I should have known after Pastor
Lloyd asked me to do that, after I prayed about it,
and felt God say, “Yes.” My initial reaction should
have been, “Yes Lord, “I believe, I trust, “and I wanna walk according to your will.” So don’t constantly be
asking God for a sign in order for your faith to be real. Real faith is trusting God in who He is, knowing what the word of God
says about God in your life, and who He wants you to be, is through your faith, not by demanding assign. Number two, an obstacle to real faith is second-hand faith. I talk to so many people, I say, “How long have you been saved?” “Well, I’ve been saved all my life, “I’ve been a Christian all my life. “I was born, second week of my life, “I was in the church, “I’ve been in the church ever since. “My mom was a Christian,
my dad’s a Christian, “my grandparents were so
strong in their faith.” I want you to know every single
one of us are accountable, for who God is in our own personal life. Our faith cannot be
based on our mom or dad, or maybe a friend that you
lean on, and you pray with, and you’re leaning on their faith to lead you in your own personal faith. God is an individual God wanting
to speak to you directly, wanting to lead you
directly, it’s your faith. So never lean on second hand faith, believe God to raise up real faith, authentic faith in your
heart, that’s all yours. And so if there’s ever time you’re alone, you’re not looking to other
people for the answer, you have the answer
right here in your heart, because it’s your own personal faith, that you’re walking about that. Jesus was taking the disciples, and they were talking
about this very subject, in Matthew 16, and starting in verse 13, it says, “When Jesus came “to the region of Caesarea, Philippi, “he asked his disciples,
‘Who do you people say “‘that the Son of Man is?’ “They replied, ‘Well, some
say, John the Baptist, “‘others, say Elijah, “‘and still others say
Jeremiah or the prophets.’ “‘But what about you?’ “Jesus asked, ‘What about you? “‘Who do you say that I am?'” And the one disciple
that stepped up and said, “‘You are the Messiah, “‘You are the Son of the living God.'” I love that, Peter, in
all of his mistakes, in all the things that he, in his emotions and his temper, and all the different
things that he’s known for. He’s the disciple that
immediately stood up, proclaiming who God was in his heart, “‘You are the Messiah, “‘You are the Son of the living God.” “And then Jesus replied, “‘Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, “‘for this was not revealed
to you by flesh and blood, “‘but by my Father in heaven. “‘I tell you, I tell you
that you are Peter.'” He changed his name. “‘You are Peter, and on this rock, “‘I will build my church, “‘and the gates of hell
will not overcome it.'” Peter blessed the heart of God. Peter knew who he was,
and who he was in God, and God told him who he was. You’re the church, Your name is Peter, your name is rock, Petra, you are the rock on whom I’m gonna build my church. I wanna encourage you, if you feel weak in your faith right now, know who Jesus is, know who Jesus is in your
heart, and in your life. He is the Messiah. He is the Son of God. He is the one that is
drawing you in even now, He’s the one that is the way maker, when we don’t feel it, He’s still working. When we don’t see it,
He’s still working why? Because He’s Jesus Christ, He’s the Messiah, He’s
the Son of the living God, whom, “Nothing is impossible
for our God to do.” Can you say amen, type it in, say, Amen, somebody come on. The last point that I
have an obstacle of faith is self-centered faith. Self-centered faith, we live in a world and in a culture, this whole Western culture, it has been such a consumer mentality, it puts yourself at the foremost of all your of your decisions. And it can put yourself in the
center of your faith as well, instead of God being the center, so often in Western Christianity, we put ourself as the center of our faith. “God, if you’re taking care of me, “then I’m gonna trust. “God if my finances are good, “then I’m gonna trust you, “God, when I’m not hurting
or when I’m not sick, “God, you’re good.” But what happens when things aren’t going so well for you? What happens in the middle of all that’s happening right now in the world, we feel like we’re all
alone, we’re not alone. But it’s not all about us, in the middle of our faith. Our faith has to be centered on the solid rock of Jesus Christ. “On Christ, the solid rock we stand “all others are sinking sand.” So stand together, put God in the center of your everything, your family, your life, your future, it’s all in God’s hands. So those are the obstacles that I wanted to share with you today. But I also want to share with you, how do we develop real faith? How do we develop strong faith? How do we develop an
authentic state of faith, that is gonna test the time, it doesn’t matter how much time goes on, we’re only gonna get stronger, we’re only become more
developed in our faith, and we’re constantly growing. How does that happen? It doesn’t happen by
watching the news 24-7. It doesn’t happen when you’re
just doing your own thing. It takes a concerted effort,
that is very intentional, that I am gonna grow in my faith, and this is how you’re gonna do that. Number one, immerse
yourself in God’s word, Romans chapter 10, verse 17, it says, “So then faith comes by hearing, “and hearing by the word of God.” Now more than ever, we have to have the word of
God planted in our heart. He covers everything in His Word. You need peace, know the word of God, and the word of God will bring you peace. You’re suffering from the lack of joy. There are so many scriptures
that will give you joy, strong joy, joy unspeakable, but you’ve got immerse
yourself in the word of God. You need hope, in a hopeless world, (sighs) I have peace, because of what God’s
word says about who I am. Remember who you are, you’re chosen, you’re a child, He’s for you, He’s not against you, you’re the head, you’re not the tail, understand what the word of God says. No matter what your
family’s going through, no matter what your
finances are going through, everything that you’re going through, everything that you need, is right here in the word of God. It is so easily accessible now, we can just take out our phone, open the YouVersion phone, and begin to just look at different
scriptures, reading plans. Now’s not the time to be sleepy church. I’ve talked to other
pastors who are saying, “Help us to wake up the
sleeping giant of the church.” Because if the church is together, unified with strong, authentic faith, the gates of hell will not,
will not prevail against us. So stand strong and immerse
yourself in God’s word. Number two, act on God’s word. You know, we can read it but if we really believe it, we’re gonna put the words that
are happening in Scripture, we’re gonna put ’em
into our daily actions. We’re gonna put them into our mind, so many people are saying, “Pastor Glenn, I’m struggling
with my thoughts in my mind.” That’s where the battlefield is, but when we’re immersed in God’s word, and we begin to quote
Scripture over our situation, and we begin to act on the word of God, man, our faith is alive, our faith is gonna be growing, it’s gonna be stronger
than it has ever been, by putting action on God’s word. How do you do that? James chapter two, verse 26, “As the body without the spirit is dead, “so faith without deeds are dead.” Fall deeper in love with God, love your neighbor, reach out to people, pray, never underestimate the power of prayer. You and God make a majority, pray, seek the face of God , when God tells you to do something, do it, but put your faith into action. This is the time where
the world is seeking., and we’re the only ones
that have the right answer, the right answer is Jesus. So walk out your faith daily, put your faith into action daily, trust God daily, immerse yourself in the word daily. Don’t just snack on it,
feast upon the word of God, because it will do so
much inside of your heart, your spirit, your mind,
instead of fear coming out, it’s just more scripture
that’s coming out, and the more scripture that’s coming out, the more peace that you’re gonna get. So let’s finish up this story of the man, and his son in Mark chapter nine, starting in verse 25, it says, “When Jesus saw that the crowd
was running to the scene, “He rebuked the evil spirit,
‘You deaf and mute spirit,’ “He said, ‘I command
you to come out of him, “‘and never enter him again.'” Huh, that’s the kind of boldness we need to have right there. Jesus was bold, His faith was strong, “The spirit shrieked, convulsed
him violently and came out. “The boy looks so much like a corpse, “that many thought he was dead. “But Jesus took him by the hand, “lifted him up to his feet, and stood up.” The boy was healed in Jesus name. You see, God did it in His timing, the man’s like, “Do it now, “if you can do it, do it now.” It wasn’t a matter of if, it was a matter of when. You see God’s always gonna
do, what God is going to do, But oftentimes, there’s
a testing of our faith. But here He is, in the end, He raised the boy up, He rebuked the evil spirit that left him. He rose him up, stood him up, and he was healed, and he was able to continue
his life, demon free. I wanna encourage the church, let’s have real faith,
let’s have authentic faith, let’s believe God for a miracle, we need to be standing in
the gap for our country, for our leaders, for our
governor, our president. Everyone right now, they’re looking for the church to rise up, so let’s do that. Let’s do it with an authentic faith, let’s do it with a
faith that’s unwavering. Let’s do it with a faith that’s strong. Let’s believe God for miracles
like we’ve never seen before. Let’s believe God, that God is going to use
us to pray for the sick, and they shall recover. Let’s believe God to use us, to pray for a couple that
is on the brink of divorce, and God reconciles them, and brings peace. Let’s pray for our banking, let’s pray for the Wall Street, and all the things that are
happening all around us. And let’s believe God for
a miracle in our life, in our churches’ life,
in our nation’s life, and let’s pray for a miracle
throughout the world, because God is not done with us yet, He’s just getting started. Can we all bow our heads and pray together those that are home, that are watching. Let’s pray, Father, we do stand in faith, we trust you, we thank
you for the good things that are happening in our life, God every good and perfect thing, it comes from You, directly from You. Right now where we are Lord, people are in different situations, we stand strong, with authentic
strong faith in who you are. Your word says, “You’ll never leave us, “You’ll never forsake us.” You’re always there right on time, God, we trust your perfect timing, with all the things that are happening. It’s in Your hands, we give it to You, we trust You, and we believe who You are, You are the Messiah, the
Son of the living God. Maybe you’re watching right now, God’s saying to you, “I love you, “I’ve got a plan for your life.” Maybe you’ve looked for things, people, even financial institutions, leadership in government. All that will always let you down, friends are gonna let you down, people are gonna let you down, why? Because they’re people, we’re all imperfect. But I serve a perfect God,
who’s calling you by name. The Bible says that He knows the hairs by number on our heads, as I crossed the 50 mark, I’m seeing more and more
of those hairs falling out. But I want you to know God loves you, He loves you personally, He desire to have a relationship
with you personally. He wants to wrap His arms
around you personally. But here’s the key, you’ve got to receive that. He’s always standing with
His arms outstretched, but oftentimes we’re walking away or we’re, we’re weary, we’re overwhelmed, lay down all the feelings, and
run into the arms of Jesus. He’s always right there with you, and He wants you to have
a real relationship, to walk away from the sin in your life, to repent of the sin
of your former things, and believe today is a new day. Today, God wants to bring a new day, the Bible says, “Today
is the day of salvation.” And if you’re at home that today, and you say, “Pastor
Glenn, that’s what I want, “I want real faith, I don’t
want counterfeit faith, “I want the real faith,
I want the real thing.” God is the real thing, Jesus Christ is the real thing. And by simply accepting
Christ for who He is, the Son of the living God. The one that went to the cross
for your sin, and for my sin. So repent of those sins, and believe that He died, and rose from the dead
for you, and for me, He paid the price. And simply, you just have to accept the free gift of salvation,
that He’s offering you today. Just repeat this prayer after
me those that are at home, even those that have Christ, let’s pray together in our homes, for the sake of those
right now that are making an eternal decision to follow God. Pray together with me, Lord Jesus, I thank you for who you are. I thank you for what you
did for me on the cross, God, You gave Your life, and paid the price for me and my sin. I ask You to forgive me of my sins now, come into my heart, today Lord, I accept You as my friend, my God, my Savior, my everything,
in Jesus name Amen. Thank you, church for watching today. I’m believing for you,
I’m praying with you, we’re standing together in faith, I wanna let you know all the things that we’re doing as a church, we’re not pulling back, we wanna do more, and how
we’re able to do more always, is because of the
faithfulness of your tithes your offerings, now’s the
time not to pull back. Now’s the time for us to be
on the attack and to rise up. So for those who are able to do more, this is the time for the church, this is the time that we have need, you see all these companies having to make all these decisions, we don’t wanna have to
make those decisions. And how we’re able to do that
and be strong financially, is through your faithfulness,
through your giving. I appreciate you, I love you, and we’ll see you this week, as we have church every night, God bless you church.

I feel the power of the Lord as if I were sitting in the same seat I sit in every Sunday.
Please never stop as long as we can't meet in His house. You have made it possible for us to be attached.
