this doesn't seem like meditation to me one bit. its just walking and being aware OF walking but not really paying much attention.

Being aware of ones self is one of the basic teachings of buddhism. If you don't get that, then ignore this how to. Being aware of the inner workings of how your body "walks" is literally a vital step to enlightenment. Imagine, walking… one of the first things we learn as a baby, but now we take for granted. Again, if you don't get it.. skip this vid.

Shit every time I walk in a state of deep concentration I end up hitting a wall and making an ass of myself

It really messes up the whole "calm and collected" look

Anyone who thinks u can achieve enlightenment doing this is stupid. In the story of budda monks had to go through painful ordeals such as sticking inch thick nails through limbs and hands all over there body to achieve enlightenment. Don't try this at home, stick with walking and sitting medetation practice.

@sxeforlife555 not necessarily, as long as your mind is in the present and focused on your walking

There is more than one level of meditation. You can meditate while listening to music, while typing, while cooking, while walking. The point is to be aware of what's going on, and take something out of the experience. Meditation is not just sitting and humming "OHM"…which if I'm not mistaken is what a meditation track on the ipod represents. Combining this with sitting meditation adds to the experience of each.

I think the major contention as to whether this is walking meditation is rather about whether this is BUDDHIST walking meditation, which it definitely is not. This video is nothing close to the Buddhist walking meditation I practice.

That is not to say it is not valuable to people however, any bit of mindfulness is better then none, even with a mp3 player.
