Can Sikhs Drink Milk? Feat. Harbir Singh

I’ve been asked
to make a video by seek unit on youtube on whether seat should have milk and
this is a question I kind of get asked by family and friends on on a regular
basis and my answer that i’m going to give is my opinion and I don’t claim to
be an authority on the topic the reason I think that seeks can have milk is
because as a lot of people stay gurbani talks about shell birds where seeks
talks about milk so obviously the consumption is not is condoned the
reason why I think that I don’t have dariel that talks about younger bonnie
is one because of health reasons so we know that diets high in animal products
whether it’s me or dairy increase your rates of heart disease and diabetes and
I’m cancer and the second reason is because and a six-way and South Asian
communities are have some of the highest rates of these conditions so in terms of
for health reasons that’s one reason the second reason is from a moral
perspective I think during guru nanak dev ji’s times and grow subs times the
way animals are treated is vastly different to how they treat now and if
you go on youtube and look at dairy industry exposed you’ll see kind of how
milk is produced nowadays and for for some people morally if they if they’re
not eating meat do turn more cruelty they may feel that actually milk is is
as cruel as well the way its produced in some places obviously there is a
spectrum and there are colors which are treatable and cows a chart and of it if
you’re going to drink dairy I’m and how many I would promote trying to get milk
from a good source so that’s the two main issues morally and health wise and
I think its individual if you speak to any seek they all have their own
opinions and I think it’s about us being able to express ourselves and for our
own spiritual journeys without stepping on too many people’s toes on the way so
do whatever you feel the right for you me personally I tried to limit the
amount dearie I have when I go to the Dora I will still have longer and
Prashad which has dairy in it but on a day to day basis at home I try to limit
the amount of dairy in the foods that I have for health and moral reasons
