Atheism Defeated, Failed Thus Atheists Redefine Atheism

Hello, Christian here. Welcome to Christian Mission. Whatever integrity and legitimacy atheism may have historically had has been utterly and completely DESTROYED!!! It’s best… It’s BEST supporting arguments demolished by a revolution in theist thought beginning in the latter half of the 20th century, led by intellectuals like Michael Behe Francis Collins William Lane Craig William Dembski John Lennox Alister McGrath Alvin Plantinga John Polkinghorne Hugh Ross Richard Swinburne to name but a few. True atheism affirms there is no God, as most philosophy dictionaries and encyclopedias make clear. For example, Rutledge and Stanford. If you don’t make this claim, you’re not an atheist Sorry folks, YOU’RE NOT! Rather than admit their belief indefensible and defeated, most atheists today, especially the new atheist movement play deceitful and dishonest game of semantics, championing a revisionist atheism defined simply as the lack of belief in God. Atheism thus turns from an intellectual position concerned primarily with advancing the positive claim about God’s non-existence to a trivial non-intellectual psychological state whose adherents make no such claim, but rather simply do not believe, hold no belief or lack belief in God, which can tell us nothing about whether or not God exists, and in fact becomes neutral on the issue. In reality, those holding to this revisionist atheism DON’T simply lack belief in God; they adorn it, believing it allows them to advance claims made by True atheism , but without the need to intellectually and epistemically support them. Sometimes, these atheists directly state God does not exist, as done by the American American. Most times such claims are made indirectly, primarily by proclaiming God-affirming arguments and beliefs and those who hold them illogical, irrational and wrong. This is often done by angry, vitriolic, hyperbolic and fallacious attacks, as if this is supposed to validate such claims. Even the philosophically in neutral, like agnostics, are many times the target of these atheists’ pseudo-intellectual wrath. Such declarations, though, can hold any validity only if God’s existence is entirely implausible or if God does not exist, but are invalid if God’s existence is plausible or if God exists something can only be irrational, illogical or wrong to affirm true or possibly true, if it’s shown to be implausible or untrue in some way This does not have to be direct, mathematical or scientific evidence, but can, for example, be shown using logic, like a detective may do to prove his case. In short, atheists claim that God-affirming beliefs are irrational, illogical and wrong, which is equal to the positive climb that God does not exist or it’s at least a strong statement of the implausibility of His existence which require either way, to be taken seriously or or accepted as a legitimate philosophical, intellectual position beyond the individual or group level, a reasoned, valid, intellectual defense something most atheists are uninterested in doing. These atheists believe revisionist atheism absolves them of any intellectual and epistemic responsibility for logical reasoned arguments defending their positions These atheists’ tactic is simply, on one hand, empty posturing and rhetoric, on the other, it is the atheists trying to mendaciously redefine terms and debate rules to shift the burden of proof on to those who hold God exists enabling these ages to get away with anything they want to say without being intellectually responsible for it. It is a dishonest, invalid and fallacious strategy making atheists look cowardly, weak and defeated, and atheism an untenable empty position and worldview. Which it is! The atheist is responsible for providing some type of reasoned, valid, logical argument for his position. The question was and remains: Is there a God? The burden of proof for which falls evenly between those who affirm He exists and those who affirm He does not exist, whether the latter affirmation is direct or indirect Thus, it falls evenly between the atheists and theist. Today’s atheism does nothing to tackle this question They may not admit it, but atheists probably know God is not only logically possible but that He does indeed exist, something they don’t want. Like I said, advancements in modern theist thought and in philosophy and science, generally, have made acceptance of and belief in God’s reality more rational and logical than ever before. Even Dawkins has had to admit a strong argument can be made for a deist God, quite a concession from someone of his stature among atheists. Atheists may proclaim their rational, scientific and intellectual superiority but in reality offer NOTHING! Until next time, God bless you.

@ChristianMission If your argument was correct, then you would not need to tell anyone about God as they would already know. The reason there is a multi-million (if not billion) dollar industry promoting religion is to introduce people to the idea of God. Why would you need missionaries to tell people something they already know? Why would you need to "spread the word" that everyone knows? Atheism is not the claim that God does not exist, it is simply a rejection of the claim that exists.

Saying I don't believe God exists is not the same as saying I believe God doesn't exist. The latter is a positive claim and requires proof.

The position "I don't believe God exists" doesn't imply that you are CONVINCED that He doesn't, it just means you don't buy it, that's why that position doesn't have a burden of proof.

I for example, don't believe in God, I dunno if he exists, but I personally don't believe, how is that a positive claim? (btw this is what most atheists mean with disbelief)

No. The burden of proof was yours in the first place. Theists claim that there are deities. Skeptics ask to see evidence. Theists have no evidence. So atheists conclude that the orginal claim is wrong.
If a guy said he had a cookie but refused to show it to you, you would naturally assume that the person is lying. Does the evidence then fall on you to prove it?

@Savior20061 , no, the evidence is on those who make a claim, any claim. Atheists claim there is no God, thus the burden rests on them to prove it. Atheists today, however, have merely redefined atheism to exonerate themselves of their share of the burden of proof. Theists have provided much evidence through the ages, philosophical, theological, scientific, historical. No matter how much or how strong the evidence, though, atheists still say there is no evidence.

God is an unfalsifiable hypothesis. I could just as easily say that there is an invisible pink unicorn that never interacts with people, and you could never, ever prove me wrong.

@ChristianMission Why do Christians have so much trouble distinguishing between a claim that no gods exist vs not claiming that a god exists? Sure not claiming is equally not believing in the god, but it' not making a claim in either direction.

You don't have to claim that no gods exist to not believe that any do.

And why are you wearing a cowboy hat and speak with a cajun accent?

@ChristianMission What can be asserted with no evidence can be dismissed with no evidence. When a person asserts there is green men on Mars, it is not up to everyone else to disprove him, it is up to him to prove it. That is how Real science works. Science looks to explain all the facts with a theory, theology looks for facts that fit their theory.

@ChristianMission The burden of proof belongs to the person making the positive assertion. Theists make the positive assertion that a god exists. Going by your logic you must prove that the flying spaghetti monster is not more powerful then your god, that Allah is not the true god, that big-foot does not anally rape you on a nightly basis, and of course that you do not actually like it. If you cant prove all that then it must all be true.

You just don't get it. Theists claim that there is a God and that God is spoken of and described in the Bible. We ask provide proof for that. So far all "evidence" presented has failed there are scientific evidences for God, there are some historical truths in the Bible but none of them automatically mean that a God (especially yours) exists. Philosophy and theology hardly matter since neither have much effect on material reality which is what a lot of us are discussing.

Atheism encompasses both the lack of belief in god(s) and the belief in a lack of god(s). However, one is a subset of the other.

Sooo, what's your argument? The burden of proof falls on those that make definitive claims. You claim a god exists. Very good, you have a hypothesis. Now, follow through the scientific method and prove it. Also, to the atheists that claim that there is no god. You have a hypothesis as well. So you should follow through as well.

For those trying to prove god, remember to use logical reasoning (no circular logic or statements such as I see/don't see proof, therefor god/no god) and proper scientific sources (in other words, no holy books to prove holy books) and make only the basic assumptions allowed in science which are

    1. The universe exists.
    2. We can gain knowledge about the universe.
    3. Assertions about the universe can be tested.

Then send your findings out into the scientific community.

Stepping and pledging seems fun and the connections you make by joining a fraternity are irreplaceable. There are a few things to consider for instance hazi… https://youtu.be/eMEy9ENcY3s

Atheism was always the lack of belief in a god, not the belief that their is no God.
Adding the prefix (a) means a lack of. Theism is the belief in God, atheism is then the lack of belief in God. A lack of belief is not synonymous with a claim of there being no God.
Gnosticism refers to knowledge so a gnostic atheist would be someone who claims to know there is no God, a gnostic theist would claim to know there is a god.
Agnosticism (the lack of knowledge) says we don't know. So an agnostic theist would believe there is a god, but wouldn't know for certain, and an agnostic atheist would believe there isn't a god, but wouldn't claim to know there isn't a god. (Most people fall under these categories.) an agnostic who lacks belief in something has no burden of proof, only someone who says that they know, or believe there is good reason to believe, something exists has the burden of proof.
