Militant evangelists have no problem walking all over other people's beliefs. I have seen the disrespect and intolerance doled out by Christians on a daily basis and I find it disgusting. I once volunteered at a soup kitchen to feed the homeless and downtrodden. Unfortunately, it was a Christian establishment. Back then I was still naive about religion and the harm that it does. Did they show respect to these poor people and simply fill their needs? Absolutely not! Instead they held their needs hostage and used it as a tool to make them sit through a 3 hour lecture about how if only they "turned to god" and were "Christians" they wouldn't be in need before they gave them any help. You had to first give up your dignity and have your own beliefs trampled upon in order to receive any help from these people. Their goal wasn't to help these people but to shame them and crush their spirit so they could feel superior through converting a few "lost souls". The sheer arrogance, lack of respect, and ulterior motives of these "Christians" certainly did nullify any actual good they may have done anyone. Taking advantage of someone's vulnerability and using their needs for leverage is just plain vulgar and immoral. I will never forget it.

I don't blame you. I believe that God loves me even though the world and christian church have in the past both cast me aside and rejected me. God didn't abandon me and cast me off. The only reason I have my sanity now is through believing that God truly loves me and Jesus Christ has given me hope to continue on through much false accusation, psychiatric mistreatment and prison cells, the latter I still to this day maintain my innocence of. Jesus gave me hope because he suffered unjustly also, that I might know someone in all of my confusion and despair that understood what I was going through. The scriptures gave me vital understanding to continue forward in hope and start to grow as a human being. The circumstances I speak of were over 20 years ago now and currently I enjoy great peace of mind in my soul and circumstances that could not have come about in other way than believing in God's love.
